A time of fruitfulness and rest

2018 is here! And seems to be breezing through! As most of you know 2017 was an exceptionally hard year for us with so many unexpected circumstances happening in our lives concerning health, safety , and finances. But through it all He showed himself faithful and his promise to us came through!  Now in 2018 we feel He has been calling us to a new time !

A time of fruitfulness and rest. And we are excited and honored to continue on this journey with Him. So here is a little of what we are doing and what we have planned for this year! we hope you will continue to come along side us as we come together to see His Kingdom being established.

Sharing Love

Caring

As I (Rachel), continue on this adventure it is of following the Lord, the clearer it is to me that I am called to care. To care for my family , to care for my fellow missionaries and to care for those who find themselves in some kind of vulnerability and injustice. Do to some financial hardship in the beginning of last year, I got a part time job as an elderly care worker. Little did I know that I would fall in love with the elderly in this country that need care! It has been my honor to be serving and caring for them. I hope to be showing them a taste of God’s unconditional and unfathomable love for them, through the care I offer.

I have also been helping out off and on with a play group designed specifically for muslim moms and toddlers. Although this is only a few hours a week, it has been wonderful to build relationships and being able to serve these families in the hopes that they will someday meet Jesus through us.

On the YWAM campus I have mostly been involved by making dinner for all the trainees and school staff once a week. It has been great to serve while building relationships with  some of the trainees who help out with dinner.

Jessica

Jessica will be 13 in a month! I am still in shock that I am now have a teenager as a daughter! She is growing up to be a beautiful woman! Both inside and out. She has now made many friendships both at school and on the campus and  thrives in being with her friends. Jessica is also a very intelligent and very creative girl , and it have been pure joy to see her discovering of how to put these into good use!

She has won many  awards in school and is discovering that she is a natural leader. Jessica has Bible study every week with one of the staff on base and also youth group on Sundays. It would be great if you keep her in your prayer as she goes through all the normal changes a teen goes through.

And also keep us as parents in your prayers for wisdom and discernment as we guide her to being able to make her own decisions in life. Although satisfying and enjoyable , it is not an easy task!

James Oliver

“Hi, I’m James.”  Is his favorite thing to say to those he doesn’t know. James is growing up to be extremely friendly, outgoing , and so funny! He is fluent in both english and Portuguese and has just been potty trained! As a 3 old James will start preschool in April.

Although we feel he is ready and eager to start preschool please pray that the transition will be smooth and easy and that he will enjoy himself. He is privileged to be going to a christian preschool with extremely well qualified staff, and most importantly, staff who really care for each child and their development and consider each child in prayer.

Taste and see that I am good

I would like to end  this ‘Souza’s news bit’  by sharing a little encouragement that the Lord has put in my heart a few years ago, and has recently been reminding me of this. It’s short and simple, but very sweet and liberating to hear. I hope it encourages you and it has encouraged me!

Taste and see that I am good.

How many times have we missed seeing God’s goodness because we were too busy being anxious and trying to solve everything in our own strength. I know have been at fault of this so many times! The other day something came up that needed to be resolved urgently and i panicked because i saw no way to resolve it.

I started trying to fix it on my own wisdom and knowledge. and when I was about to elevate the level of my panic , a persistent, clear , strong and simple thought came rushing into my inner most being. “Taste and see that I am good.”  And I immediately stopped, and asked how?

The answer came, “be still” trust who I am”. I AM GOOD. So , I prayed and handed it all over to Him, and sure enough he came through!  He is Good my friends! and is constantly calling us to taste of His goodness. So I encourage you to give him whatever it is that is making you anxious and rest in Him. TASTE and SEE that HE is GOOD.

Would you pray for us?

We continue to need your prayers. We acknowledge the fact that our work is only possible with a team. This means that we need partners in ministry and not only financially speaking. We also need people who are willing to support us in prayer.

We want to thank everyone who has been a support for us in these areas, we would not be able to be here if not for your participation.

Sponsorship

Would you like to pray and see if God is touching your heart to embrace our financial challenge with us? We are looking for sponsors who will be able to contribute on a monthly basis. By being dependent on church, family and friends we as missionaries are encouraged to communicate well about our work. As missionaries we are dependent on God, who touches peoples heart to be a part of our team by contributing financially to our family and ministry.

and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” Atcs 6:4
