"Trust in the Lord with all your heart"

Trust

Trusting God for the next season

Can you believe we have been living in England for 2 years now?! Time flies! Currently we are in Brazil renewing our visas and visiting friends and family, and having a much needed rest! In just two weeks Thiago is heading back to England (a week before the children and I do to having a different entry date on his visa than the rest of us) where he will be getting ready to be a student in the School of Communication.

Its and amazing 3 month course from the University of the Nations (aka: YWAM)  that focuses on giving students the tools and self awareness they  to need to communicate with integrity and efficiency based on their relationship with God.  Good stuff! Thiago has also been busy recruiting and finishing  preparations for the Story Telling and Photography course he will be leading next year.

As for me (Rachel)? Well I am enjoying the much needed rest here in Brazil and getting ready for a new season in the UK. I have been finding out more and more that my passion is to take care of people in need. Rather that be refugees, burnt out missionaries, the elderly etc… So that is what I have been doing. Before our trip to Brazil I was working as a caregiver to the elderly. It both fulfilled my calling to care giving and helped us through a very rough time financially speaking. Now as we return to the UK I will also be focusing on a new ministry on the base that is focused on providing holistic care to missionaries who are burnt out. More to say on that later.

As any new season in our lives is,  this new season of returning to the Uk if both exciting and full of challenges. Especially related to time management and finances. However, our hearts remains trusting and confident in the One who has called us.

Our kids

She has been having a blast in Brazil. Visiting friends and family, going to the beach, shopping, eating good Brazilian food, and everything else a teen age girl likes to do on vacation! Jessica has expressed a desire to transfer to a school close by where we live . As the one she is in now requires her to take the public bus to and from school and ends up keeping her from after school activities do to the time and energy spent on getting to school.

We started the process to transfer, however, it is a very hard school to get into and prayers  that it all works out are appreciated.

He gets more adorable every day! As he discovers the world around him. The other day we were watching Mr. Bean, one of his favorite things to watch. He turned to me and said. “I want to be like Mr. Bean! I asked, “ Why?” He answered, “ I want to make people happy just like him.”  Yup, it made tear up as my heart filled with pride. And that describes James’ tender, friendly, funny spirit just right.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man who takes refuge in him”

One day as I was fretting about being anxious over an unexpected circumstance and trying to handle it on my own strength, This verse suddenly popped up in my mind. And I responded by asking “How can I taste you?” The answer was simple and to the point :”engage with me.” Allow me to show you that I AM GOOD, instead of running around fretting and worrying .

So many times in our lives we allow our worries and troubles to consume our time , that we forget to go to the SOURCE OF ALL GOODNESS. In this Psalm David is encouraging us to experience the Lord and discover what He is like!  May we allow our selves to become intimately involved with Him no matter what our circumstances are. HE IS GOOD! So allow your self to taste Him by finding somewhere quiet and comfortable , open your heart up to Him while you share, He love to listen! And take the time to allow Him to speak over you.

Prayer Point

Prayer 1

New season for us as Thiago starts the school of communication and I feel I should make myself more available for the family during this time. Which means less work, please pray for Gods provision during this time.

Prayer 2

Jessica’s school transfer to workout smoothly.

Prayer 3

We have a big family reunion in Hawaii next year , and my grandma really wants us to come so she can meet the kids and have sometime with the whole family together. However we need two huge miracles for this to happen. kids American citizenship ( it s a bit pricey to start the process) and the other one is finances for this to happen. Join us in prayer as we believe in God for this.

Connecting

We continue to need your prayers. We acknowledge the fact that our work is only possible with a team. This means that we need partners in ministry and not only financially speaking.

We also need people who are willing to support us in prayer. We want to thank everyone who has been a support for us in these areas, we would not be able to be here if not for your participation.

Sponsorship

Would you like to pray and see if God is touching your heart to embrace our financial challenge with us? We are looking for sponsors who will be able to contribute on a monthly basis.

By being dependent on church, family and friends we as missionaries are encouraged to communicate well about our work. As missionaries we are dependent on God, who touches peoples heart to be a part of our team by contributing financially to our family and ministry.
